Disclaimer
I’m neither a doctor nor a dietitian. I’m just a woman who believes that our choices are powerful, and we can affect our health positively or negatively by the food we eat, and the life we live. As someone with an autoimmune disease, I’m very motivated to take care of myself, and the internet is a wonderful resource to find knowledge and to share our healing stories. This website is designed to chronicle my own health journey, share what I learn in the process, and connect with others on a similar path. Results will vary from person to person, and nothing I write here is a replacement for medical advice. If you are looking for a healthcare team to guide you on your healing journey, here are some excellent resources. May we all find wellness.
Affiliate Links
Often when you click a link on this website to a book, class or product, it’s an affiliate link. This means that if you decide to buy it, I get a small commission. Your price stays the same, and your purchase supports this website at the same time. Win win! I only choose affiliates I believe in, and prefer this to running ads. Have you ever visited a paleo blog, only to see an ad for a boxed pasta salad in the sidebar? I have! That’s not the choice of the blogger; that’s the advertising company they’re running on their website. Affiliate relationships with ethical/paleo companies allow me to prioritize content over ads, and just link to products that support our healing journey. You’ll see these links in the articles and in my blog store.
Amazon is one of my affiliate programs, and they require some specific legal language, so here it is! Phoenix Helix is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Privacy Policy
Phoenix Helix is a personal website dedicated to empowering people to maximize their health. I care about privacy far more than marketing, so I don’t spend a lot of time mining data, and I never sell personal information. Here are the details:
- This website, like most others, uses cookies to track browsing patterns. I personally don’t look at this information. It’s collected by the software that runs on this website: WordPress and its associated plugins. If you object to cookies, simply disable them in your browser options. You can also view WordPress’ privacy policy here.
- Disqus is the service that I use to moderate comments for this website. If you choose to write a comment (which I love), it will ask for identifying information like your name and email address. Your name will be shown publicly but your email address will be kept private. You can choose a pseudonym if you like. That name will be linked to your profile on Disqus, which shows any comments you’ve written on other blogs in the Disqus community. You can read Disqus’ privacy policy here, and it has various opt-out options.
- Google Analytics is a third party service that collects data that I find helpful. However, it’s not personal data. Instead, it tracks overall patterns: Which posts are the most popular? How many visitors does this website receive? How long do they stay? How many pages do they view? And what countries are they from? You can read Google’s privacy policy here.
- Mailchimp is the service that I use to deliver my newsletter. I have it set to “double opt-in”. That means you have to really want to subscribe. First you enter your email address in the box on my homepage. Then Mailchimp sends you an email to confirm your subscription. Only when you confirm are you added to my mailing list. I don’t share, rent or sell this list to others. It’s used for my weekly newsletter, and perhaps once or twice a year I might send you a dedicated email about something special. There’s an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, if you want to be removed from the list. You can read Mailchimp’s privacy policy here.
- If you buy one of my books, the sale will be processed through through PayPal or Amazon.com. Click those links to read their privacy policies.
- Please note that this policy refers to Phoenix Helix only. I have no control over other websites. If you’re reading one of my blog posts and click on a link, that often takes you to a new website. Please review their privacy policy for details on how they handle data. If the link is an affiliate link (where you are purchasing a product), a cookie will be dropped on your computer ensuring that I get a commission on that sale. It doesn’t raise your price at all. It simply helps support my work, and I appreciate it!
- Lastly, while this website is available to general audiences, it is not directed to children. As per the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (15 U.S.C. 6501, et seq.), I don’t knowingly collect or maintain personal information from persons under the age of 13.
- Your use of this website constitutes acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at eileen (at) phoenixhelix (dot) com. I will update this policy as laws and guidelines require. Last updated 6/1/18.

Thank you for your work on this blog! I just started my own after Graves Disease kicked in last year and was going to post about coconut and its many fabulous qualities and uses. Your post/article nails it and I wanted to ask permission first to post and link back to you? Many thanks either way :0) — Saivite

Eileen,
Hi, I’d like to write about your Kombucha myth/truth on my blog, which I started in summer (and mostly writing/showing about my daily juices). I’ve started my batch last saturday for the first time after a while, and thought it’s nice to share what i read on your article (I may want to translate part of your article, if I may, to Japanese.) Fermentation is very popular now in Japan, but Kombucha is not so big as it is/was in US. While it may soon, as it takes some time for trends from US to arrive Tokyo!
anyway, hope to hear from you and I enjoy your blog anyway!
makiko
That sounds great, makiko. If you would just include my blog name and link in your article. Let’s spread that kombucha love!
Eileen, I’d like to share your olive oil article on my new blogger’s facebook page. I’ve named you and your site without quoting anything other than the title “Will the Real Olive Oil Please Stand Up?”, but when I include the link, it does quote your article and then links back to your page. Is this okay with you? I’m a fledgeling in the blogger arena and have just started my first step with the FB page so I’m not exactly sure what’s appropriate and what isn’t yet. Thank you very much! Stefanie
As long as it links back to me, that’s perfect. Thanks for spreading the word!
